New Serger

I've been arguing with my old White serger (it loves to skip stitches on the left needle), so I decided that it was time for another machine before I send the White to the shop for repairs (or replacement). I managed to find an even older Bernina Bernette MO-335 on Craigslist that had hardly been used (the prior owners were intimidated by it) and jumped on it. Now that I have a reliable serger (the Bernette is this side of an industrial machine), I actually need to learn how to serge something other than a straight line.

There's some really nice books available, but it's nice to find some generic information is still available through the Extension Service:

I'm an accidental cloth-diapering mom. I stumbled on the "new" cloth diapers while on a hunt for wooly nylon thread for my serger. Then a dear friend gave us a Knicker Nappy diaper as a new-baby present. When you add all of this to the fact that I collect hobbies (and fabric and sewing patterns) with not wanting to buy a box of diapers every time I turned around - you wind up with my little misadventure.

I refer to all of this as misadventures because I do screw up, I'm not doing this "for the greater good", and I'm trying to keep this fun (because raising kid isn't always fun).

I'm old enough to remember plastic pants and jabbing myself royally with a diaper pin with younger relatives. I also remember the nasty disposables that had one-shot-to-get-it-right tabs. I'm glad that I have more options for my little girl.
